Wine totes made for Christmas presents

I belong to a guild that has member-teacher classes.  I took this class before Christmas to make wine totes, thought they would make great hostess gifts with a little bottle of wine inside.  Meanwhile, I purchased a new sewing machine, Bernina Artista 200/730E and tried my first attempt at free motion quilting using the BSR on the second wine tote.  I was excited about my first try and am looking forward to completing some little projects doing my own quilting.

This tote has straight up and down stitching which added to the fabric.

This wine tote includes my first attempt at free motion quilting.  I quilted just inside all the poinsettia petals and inside the leaves.

Easy Street Mystery Quilt Part 5

Finished Part 5 of the mystery quilt yesterday.  Next part will be posted on Friday.  Having so much fun with all these colors and keeping up with the parts so that I don't get too far behind.  This part called for 64 of these three and a half inch blocks, we are calling them "sitting turkeys".

Easy Street Mystery Quilt by Bonnie Hunter

I am doing by first mystery quilt by Bonnie Hunter.  Check out her blog at Quiltville.blogspot.com and check out the Easy Street tab.

I picked out my fabrics and waited for Clue #1.
This first part was to make 192 4 patches, uses my constant grey, and different black on white prints.

Waited patiently for Clue #2 which was to make 128 Flying Geese with purple geese and black on white print wings.  Bonnie gave us a heads up that we will need 64 black on white rectangles 2"x3.5" for the next clue which I completed.  I am having so much fun with this and can't wait til next weeks Clue to get started on the next part.

Check back for further updates and enjoy my journey.  It's not too late to join in, you can print each clue and do the mystery quilt at your own pace.    Happy Quilting!
